windows media player not responding

sometimes when i play DVDs and i fwd through a big chunk - i.e. drag the bar to 50% windows crashes. this did not happen to the same DVDs on my old laptop.

any suggestions?

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

2. Click the Player tab, click to select the Download codecs automatically check box, and then click OK.

3. Try to play the file. If you are prompted to install the codec, click Install.

If no luck, please post the OS and WMP version.

graham- thanks ill give that a go.
what do you think has happened then? is it a case of maybe codecs not working properly on this lappy?

To get to Tools, right click at the top of the Window.
