Windows media player 9

Have had problems with cd drive and dvd burner and had to reinstall hardwaare. Windows media player used to work well and now even after reinstalling it is not playing audio on cd or dvd. Have been trying various DVD burning programmes e.g. Nero etc and just wondering if there has been conflict. Any way to get original defaults for Media player 9 back?

Go to Tools>Options and re-enable what you require, especially from the DVD tab and the codecs.

Worth downloading any codecs you may not have.

Do not follow. Gone into tools and all seems ok.

ATI Media centre plays cd's but Wiindows 9 does not play sound. Both windows 9 and ATI or DVX player do not play sound

Then you may need to check your Volume Control's Mixer panel as something may be disabled or the sliders turned down too much.

WMP also has a mute button and volume control - check these and similar programs as well.
