Windows Media Player

I am running Windows98 and have just downloaded Windows Media Player 9 to play .wma files on my PC.
Each time I try to play a track I get an error message saying Miscrosoft Windows Media Player has encountered a problem, do I want to restart the application and/or send a report.
I get this error message every time. I can't even get as far as retrieving the licence for the track I have just downloaded.
Any suggestions?

Think you need Win 98SE to use this.
