Hi everyone, Suddenly when I'm trying to rip a cd using 'Windows Media Player 11' it's very very slow... about 5-6 mins a song...

Any ideas please

Do you have a CD lens cleaner handy ?
It could be dirty and having trouble reading disks.

The other option to check is in Tools - Options - Devices and select your CD player. Click Advanced and uncheck "error correction"

The final setting involves the device settings in
control panel. See if it's set to PIO mode for the controller rather than DMA mode. Try the first two though and see how you get on.

Might be other processes running in the background ? That could be anything... even malware etc

What is the operating system ? Perhaps use "reliability and performance monitor" to check if Vista or W7 or use task manager.

Or do any of these help...
