Windows Media Player 11 - playing DVDs

  Geord 20:57 20 Dec 06

I've recently upgraded from WMP10, but am now having problems playing DVDs. When playing, the description comes up as "DVD Unknown", and I just get a black screen where there should be a picture.

Is there anything that I need to do to get the DVDs to play (as they did successfully for WMP10) or do I need to revert to the old player. If the latter what's the best way to do this without causing any other potential problems?

Windows OS: XP
NVidea Decoder

Many thanks for any advice that can be offered.

Must admit i don't use WMP11 it tends to stutter when playing a DVD like it's catching up with itself.
I use Power DVD for my movies no problems..

Thanks Skidzy - followed your 1st link and all plays fine on Windows Media Classic Player. I guess WMP11 will have to remain redundant as far as DVDs go!

Thanks Again.
