Windows Media can't detect CD/DVD burner?

I have a Dell Dimension 9150 and I've recently done a full system restore. My problem is when I use Windows Media 10 (or 11) to burn music to CD I get the message 'No CD or DVD burner has been detected. Press F5 to refresh the player'.

I've done this before (system restore) and never had this happen. I have Nero 6.6SE installed.

My PC comes with Roxio software installed but as I don't particularly like using it I always uninstall it. Could this be the problem?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Probably. I would think windows uses it like a pluggin

Ok, thanks for the quick response. What can I do other than do another system restore?

Reload the software you uninstalled
