Windows ME won't start

  Colp 14:16 18 May 04

When I switch on my PC it starts doing its usual "detecting", then I get the message "The following file is missing or corrupted: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32.VXD".

I've tried using a startup disk to load but get this message "NTLDR is Missing"

Any ideas/suggestions/easy-to-understand-and-implement solutions?

Thanks, but I don't have any scanner, so I don't think that'll be it. I'll have a look at the rest of the Microsoft Knowledge Base though and see what comes up.

A quick loook at MKB and nothing that seems to relate directly to my problem, so still open to suggestions please.

It may be easier to re-instal Windows. Try a 98 disc from, that will have Master Boot Records.

Oh dear - way beyond me I think. I have all my files backed-up so I think I'll go for re-install.
