Windows Me Explorer Folder Directory

  Russy 22:40 27 Mar 03

The tree type directory in the left hand column of Explorer has disappeared.

The column is still there and can be removed or added by clicking folders in the explorer bar, but there is no information, just a X in the top right hand corner for closing.

I have tried all I can think of by trying various things in View and also in Folder Options.

Current state in Folder Options is for Active Desktop and Web View Windows (Classic Options). Browse Folders is 2nd option (in it's own window) and finally double click

Anyone any idea what has happened? Many thanks

Have you tried System Restore to a time before this happened?

if you click on view/explorer bar , is the option FOLDERS ticked? it should be.

Really appreciate suggestions but restore didn't work and the folder options is ticked. This is so bizarre. Any other suggestions would be most welcome as I can't face re-installing Windows.
