Hiya Guys

My friend was using the laptop on the internet, when suddenly the computer rebooted and was asking for the windows password,

The strange thing about this is there has never been a windows password on the PC.

I tried to boot up in safe mode as administrator, so i could disable the password on her account, but as soon as i click on Administrator in safe mode log on the Computer just restarts.

Any ideas guys,

thanks in advance

Try booting from your XP CD (Assumed XP) and try use system restore.

Normally, when the system asks for a password and you have not set one up, you just need to press the return key and the system will accept a null password - it should also then stop asking you again.

Are you using an original windows copy?

Hi could the CMOS battery need changing?
Causing loss of pass word?
