Windows Installer pop up on boot up

For some reason a pop up entitled Windows Installers appears at the end of indows XP boot up on my laptop but no my deskop.

In the body of the window it says Preparing to install and a progress bar fills up and the window vanishes. This appears if I load any new software and is a nuisance although it seems not to affect anything.

I have used 'search' to find this file or whatever it is but it cannot be foun. It is not listed in start up.

So I would please like to know if I can eliminate it.

The file is called msiexec and lives in C:\Windows\System32. Whatever you do don't delete it, you'll never install anything else.

Have you installed anything recently, or perhaps aborted an installation. If not I would scan your system for nasties.

Thanks for the warning Ventanas.

I have scanned with updated ant virus but it is clean.

I cannot understand why the Installet keeps popping up while there is no sign of it on my Desktp also running on XP

Are you able to explain this?
