Hi Forum Members

I am concerned about a recurring problem with Windows XP (SP2).
It seems that whenever I go into the Control Panel and then return to the desk top, I get an error message saying Windows Explorer has encountered and error and has to close, send error report to Microsoft or debug?
And all of my desktop icons vanish and several of my sytem tray icon vanish also.

When I click on the error report it reveals the following;

App Name: explorer.exe
Mod Ver: 5.1 2000.2180
App Ver: 6.0 2900.2180
OffSet: 0002 ae22
Mod Name: ntdll.dll

I have a Mesh Matrix AMD Athlon 3000+ 512MB
160GB HD, GeForce FX5600 128MB.

Please can someone tell me how I can fix this annoying problem.

Kind regards
Rogmur

Start, Run, type in

sfc /scannow

and click OK.

You may be asked to insert your Windows CD.

Hi VoG Thanks for your prompt advice. However, as I have a PC from Mesh I do not have a full version of Windows XP only a "Recovery CD". Or should this be the same as a full version? Thanks again for your advice Regards Rogmur

If you can find the I386 folder on the recovery CD you may be in luck click here
