I have just re-installed WinXP after a rebuild. The HDD is 250Gb but in Windows\C\properties it is recognised as 127Gb? In BIOS it is described correctly! Ummmm, any ideas.

There are two possiblities.

1. You need at least Win XP SP1a for it to see graeter vthan 132GB.

2. Your BIOS can only see 132GB

Cheers Monument. I have only got as far as installing my original XP SP1 disc so your first possibility would seem to be the one. I will continue with SP2 and see what happens, thanks.

Shows 127G not 160G or Higher
In Windows, click on Start->Run, enter "regedit".
# Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Parameters registry subkey.
# From the Edit menu, select New, DWORD Value.
# Enter the name EnableBigLba, then press Enter.
# Double-click the new value, set it to 1, then click OK.
# Close the registry editor.
# Restart the machine for the change to take effect.

wotbus only had XP basic loaded. It needs SP1a before it can see more than 137GB.

Hmmm - it gets better! SP2 is in but now an improved anomoly!

Used space: 2,640,347,136 bytes 2.45 GB

Free space: 134,787,596,288 bytes 125 GB

Capacity: 137,427,943,424 bytes 127 GB !!!

I did what you suggested Fruit Bat but it's still the same. :-(
