Windows format

I have just carried out my first format on a family members PC and have installed the drivers and utilities etc that came with the laptop. The question I have is that if I plug the laptop into the router using the ethernet and use the original router driver software wil the laptop pick up the internet connection again?

Yes it should, all the settings are stored in the router.

A router is a network device to which computers connect using TCP/IP protocol. It isn't *installed* in a computer, either as software or as hardware, and there are no drivers involved to connect by ethernet, other than those for the installation of the network adapter itself.

So hopefully when I plug the cable in it should recognise the router and I should be able to get them back up and running.
