Windows File Protection

Yesterday, because of a few niggling problems, I followed the advice given in an earlier issue of PC Advisor and went to >Start>Run>type CMD>type SFC/scan.
Up came the message to insert my Win. XP CD, which I did, then up came the message >The CD you provided is the wrong CD. Please insert the Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM into your computer
How can it be the wrong one, its the only one I've got? The initial installation was done from this CD so I don't understand why it is being refused. Can anybody help please?

It may well be the only cd you got but are you sure the installation was done from that cd?

Have you installed SP1 since windows was installed? That can be a problem with sfc.

The answer to both questions is 'yes'. I know that CD was used as it was me that installed it. SP1 is installed, I tried putting that in but got the same message.
