Windows explorer not responding

Hi guys I everytime i open windows explorer it give me the message,

Windows explorer stopped responding

Then it closes.

I am running windows 7

If I was running XP, I would suggest going to run, put your CD in the drive and run sfc /scannow.

I do not know the windows 7 equivilent.

sfc /scannow does work in Windows 7 from an elevated command prompt.

This link shows how to do it (click here) the easy way to open an elevated command prompt is to type cmd into the search box hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys and hit ENTER.

This might help fixing the problem if system files are corrupted.

On searching this problem it turned out to be the antivirus that was causing it. It might not be your issue though. Came accross this but I've never used' problem step recorder'.
