Whenever i open a folder (only with films in it) i get the following message "windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close"

I have scanned the folder for virus and to no avail. i have checked the event viewer and get the following message:

Hanging application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.5512, hang module hungapp, version, hang address 0x00000000.

This folder of mine is on an external hard drive which works perfectly on another pc!

The pc is currently running windows xp sp3

Can anyone help

Right Click an empty part of your Taskbar at bottom of screen. Click Task Manager - Click the Applications Tab then Click New Task ... Type "explorer" without quotes, Press Enter.
