Windows Experience index sub score for CPU

I have a desktop which I have had for some time with a C2D E6600 2.4 GHz processor which gives me a Windows experience index sub-score of 4.8. I have tried all the various methods of improving this, but with no increase, so I accepted this as the normal score.

I have today acquired a laptop with a P7570 2.26 Ghz which gives me an index sub-score of 5.9.

Now I realise that the P7570 is much more modern, but comparing the 2 processors on the Intel website shows them to have very similar specs, which leads me to believe the E6600 score is on the low side.

Any comments on this?
