Windows Error Codes

Can anybody point me in the direction of an explanation of Windows Error Codes.

I have installed a (Dial-up) modem on a machine and after installing the driver I received a notification that it would not work because of 'Error Code 10'.

Anybody?

You might find something in here, click here but arror codes in Windows are legion.
However the explanation for code10 is simple. The device failed to start. Try updating any drivers, or try the Troubleshoot button.

Or try removing and reinstalling the modem, make sure the back doesn't lift when you screw it in place.

Thanks for that link ventanas but I had a trawl through that earlier.
I have tried the Troubleshoot button and have done what AndySD suggested.
I will take another modem over there in case that one is damaged.
The message I got told me the Device had failed to start BECAUSE of Code 10. It is a bit misleading if all Code 10 means is that the 'Device didn't start'.
I was hoping somebody might know where a list of error codes could be found - more out of interest than necessity.
