Windows Defender Versus Security Essentials

  Glen 16:20 14 Nov 10

I installed Windows Security Essentials as the only A.V.program. Windows Firewall is switched on. However I am prompted to turn on Windows Defender and am unable to do so. Does Security essentials take the place of Defender. Should I bother?

You mean Microsoft Security essentials.
Try services and scroll down to Windows Defender and set it to manual.

MSE disables Windows Defender... it's meant too.
MSE is a complete package, spyware, antivirus and rootkit and so does all Defender did and much more.
