Windows Defender together with Ad-Watch Live

  Chris Webster 16:20 19 Mar 10

I have just turned on Windows Defender on my laptop - W7 x64.

I also use Norton 2010, Malwarebytes, A-Squared Free and Ad-Aware Free.

When I looked at my security settings it said Windows Defender was running and Ad-Watch Live ( which is part of Ad-Aware Free ) was also running.

My question is, do these 2 co-exist happily together or would it be better to have only one of them running, and if so, which one?

Regards, Chris.

Note that Defender has been superceeded by Microsoft Security Essentials which is antivirus and anti malware. You should not run two antivirus progs at the same time.

I'm not running 2 anti-virus programs, I only use Norton 2010.

Windows Defender and Ad-Aware are Anti-malware/spyware progs.

I think what he meant was that if you replaced defender with the new MSE, that would then have 2 antivirus progs running. Antimalware progs seem to get on OK with each other, but I only use MSE and Malwarebytes. Haven't ever picked up a nasty (he says, touching wood!).
