windows defender cpu

Greetings to one and all.I'm new to this so bear with me.When doing a full system scan with w/defender,it literally uses 90+ cpu and the scan tends to last for approx 1hr 15mins in this state.
I'm using w/xp home sp2 with norton net sec2006 plus ad-aware.The defender scan sometimes picks up Exploit:Win32/Wmfap which defender does remove.

You must have other items runing on the PC for it to take this long.

Clear the start up menu.

Reboot and try again.

Offline disable norton security suit and run windows defender and see how much cpu usage you have.
Obviously re-enable norton when you finish the test. Might not be defender that's using so much of your cpu.
