A Windows Conundrum

I got this message from Windows Update:

Windows Update has detected that you are running Internet Explorer 5. Some elements of the Windows Update site do not work correctly with this browser version. We recommend you upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.5 or later. Otherwise, for best performance while using Internet Explorer 5, we recommend the Express Install option.

However if I go to Help in IE it tells me I am running the following:

Version 6.0.2800.1106

I am confused...any advice on what to do or should I just ignore it?

I have never knowingly downloaded sp2 and yet the above message indicates I have it. I don't see how!

Help for a non techie please.

My PC is an Evesham and I am running XP Home

I can't help with the Windows Update problem, I'm afraid.

For some time, Microsoft have been calling their Hotfixes (Updates) "SP2" (why is anybody's guess). So, if you have installed updates to Internet Explorer that would explain why "SP2" appears in the version number.

This will bump you to the top of the page anyway.
