I am running windows 98se, recently display was a different setting and no mouse pointer....notifcation said invalid vxd dynamic link from hotkeyv(01)+000004F4 to device service A windows configuration invalid.......using scanreg/ restore I went back a couple of days and it appears fine now......is this likely to be a one off blip or need I take action to stop it happening again?

The hotkeyv(01) reference makes me suspect a driver that is being called to manage your hotkey combinations (e.g. a keyboard with programmable hotkeys).

The fact that it has an (01) after it is also suspicious - it may be that for some reason Windows is trying to load the same device driver twice.

Try uninstalling any 3rd-party keyboard drivers and reinstalling them.
