Windows can't see second HD

  kjrider 11:35 08 Jun 04

Hi there,

Please tell me what I am doing stupid!

Have bought a couple of HDs from Ebay. Tested with no bad sectors - so it claims.

Set up Bios, and it detects them, etc, but when Windows ME has loaded the second HD icon does not appear.

It workd OK with another second HD, but these two do not appear. Don't know if they are faulty or what.

Help please.

Have you set the jumpers correctly ie slave or master depending on where they are on the cables.

You will need to partition/initialise and format the second drive for it to show.

I think you need to format it before you can use it using fdisk etc.

yep, try fdisking them and formatting.
