windows cannot access the specified device etc

I have downloaded Realplayer and when I click on the Icon I get this message and Realplyer does nothing.
windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropiate permissions to access the item.

I am the only user on the pc XP Home. So what permissions etc is it meaning.

Another problem also is that my Niece gets this message also when trying to connect with the Icon explorer. She has to get on line through MSN Explorer.

Yes I have the latest version and have uninstalled it as suggested by realplayer tech dept and reinstalled with a new download. No joy.

I would suggest you remove ether with the uninstall if it provides one or from add remove in control panel also do a search for Realplayer on the C;\ drive and delete all that it finds. then Reinstall from a good download
