windows backup problem

I had a major system crash last week, had to reinstall windows xp. Luckily I had backed up everything using windows backup, got all my documents, photos etc. The problem is with Outlook Express 6 files. I can see the folder files, but when I try to restore them I just get the one welcome message from when OE started again. However the folders in the backup file are "Folders.dbx 73KB, Inbox.dbx 137KB, Offline.dbx 10KB and Outbox.dbx 75KB", so it appears the files are in there but will not transfer when I try to import them. Also I can't open the files to see what is there. Any ideas will be very much appreciated.

Those are empty files - the Inbox always starts off at 137kb - are you sure you're looking at the right ones from your backup?

Thanks, if they are empty it must have not backed them up. I'll have to see if there is another OE file in there
