Every time I try to create a Windows Backup it fails. Report states - Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:Catastrophic failure
I'm using XP pro and trying to backup My Documents to an external USB drive. Never had this problem before!

Check in your services and make sure that you have not disabled the Volume Shadow Copy service. Click Start/Run/type in services.msc and scroll down to Volume Shadow Copy. Right click and Properties, then change Start Up Type to Automatic and click Start under Service Status - Apply and OK.
