Windows Activation

I have just re-formatted the hard drive on my PC and re-loaded everything. All was ok until I re booted the PC when I got the message that the PC's hardware had changed and I needed to validate windows again. This happened 4 or 5 times and I had to ring Microsoft as I got a message that I had validated it too often (or something like that). They gave me a new code to enable Windows to work. As I hadn't changed any hardware - why did the message keep appearing?

The validation code is stored on the hard drive.
When you re format, the code is removed, so a new one has to be entered.

It takes about ten things on you computer to compare with original.

Some of these are drivers etc that may have been altered or removed.

hence need for re activation..
