Windows 98SE cant RIGHT click, select NEW......

I don't particularly want to re install my OS although it is screaming out for it. Basically I seemed to have deleted something, possibly from the registry and I no longer have the New, file or folder option on the right click menu. It's even vanished from the drop down menu in windows explorer.

The only way I can create new folders is to go into MS Dos mode which is a pain.

Fileman.exe is not present on my PC either, not sure if this is required.

Help greatfully appreciated

If you have your 98se installation disc reinstall over existing os, this way you will not lose any of your programs or settings

Before a reinstall, try the system file checker

and press start.

When did it happen? I think that Win98 saves the last 5 days of reg files so you could boot into dos and try

scanreg /restore

This will give you the option of an older registry.
