My system is running with a Athlon 1700+, 512mb of DDR, 20GB h/d (14GBfree space), 128mb Geforce 3 graphics card on a Gigabyte GA-7N400-L m/b. When I switch the power on, it takes up to 15mins to get to the desk top screen. Can anyone help?

What tasks are loading with windows, e.g. Anti-Virus?

DO you have, or have you had, any networks set up?

Please check Device Manager for hardware that is incorrectly installed. Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager.

Sorted. I updated my bios from version F4 to F7 and that seems to have fixed it.
Thanks anyway.

When you do get up and running, one thing you could check is to make sure that you can change your Browser homepage.
If your browser gets hijacked, your home page keeps getting changed back to the same page and this can slow everything down terribly.
Have you tried running "Ad-aware" and "Spybot Search and Destroy"?
Just a thought!
