when I bootup I get a fault message that

"A REQUIRED .DLL FILE, SHORT.DLL IS NOT DETECTED, START UP INCOMPLETE"

But after I click the "OK" box their does not seem to be any problems.

should I be worried or just ignor it

Have your windows 98 CD ready and run sfc. Go to Start, Run and type in sfc and press enter. Follow the prompts.

If the fault is recent (less than 5 days) try running scanreg /restore

To do this press F8 repeatedly during bootup and choose Command Prompt only.
Type scanreg /restore , and choose a date before the trouble started. This will load a registry from before things went weird

Thanks everybody for your help

Tried sfc, but it found nothing. As long as I clip the "ok" button every thing seems to work allright so I'm just going to ignor it
