Windows 95 to 98SE

I am attempting to upgrade a friend's PC from W95 to W98SE - but I am getting a message that says, "Your computer system has an operating system that cannot be upgraded by this verson of setup. You need to obtain the W98 upgrade".

Does this mean that I have to upgrade via W98 (normal), or is there a quicker way.

Can anybody help please.

It means you will have to do a clean install of 98, its best to back up then reformat, then do a clean install either by using a 98 boot floppy or booting to the 98cd (change option in the bios)and taking the insstall windows option.

Presumably the W98SE disk is a full version, not an upgrade. In that case you can use one of these two methods click here or format the drive and start from scratch.

Thanks to both - I want to avoid reformstting so I will try the "click here" method.
