My friend has purchased an acer laptop which is eligible for a free upgrade to W7. He also has another acer laptop with vista which is about 2 years old.
Both are running vista home premium.
He is under the impression that he can use the upgrade disc when it arrives to upgrade the new lappy and the older machine.
I don't think that is possible, any advise most welcome before he messes up big time.

Use the Windows 7 upgrade advisor from Microsoft (click here)

No he cannot, the upgrade licence is for one machine only and legally once actived it replaces the Vista licence which should no longer be used.

Thanks Zeppelyn.
Thats what I thought, but I needed to check.

As far as I'm aware Zeppelyn is correct, the upgrade is for one machine only. I myself purchased the Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack which allows you to install onto 3 machines.
