Windows 7 cannot delete folder

  susiepops 13:57 25 Oct 09

I have seen a number of posts on hoe to delete folders and files but none seem to work or I have not understood them.

When trying to delete I receive a 'you will need to provide administrator permission' this is followed by 'you require permission from (user name)- PC\ (User name) to make chanjges to this folder.

I have taken 'ownership' of the folder but this has not helped and I have attempted to change permissions using the UAC but I cannot seem to effect any changes to existing permissions.

Any help appreciated.

Are you the administrator of the computer?

Turn the UAC off restart the computer then try and delete the folder

Plus where it the folder and what is in it

I have now solved this.

In case it will be of help to others I opened Windows 7 in safe mode and from there was able to 'take ownership' of the folder and then delete. Earlier attempts in ordinary mode failed and the only suggestion I have is that perhaps the folder or its contents were being used by another program.
