Windows 2k Format Problem

I recently formatted a Window 2000 machine for one of my son's. Installed the very basic program's (MS Word) for him, one game Championship Manager and Nero software.

I went to visit him yesterday to find that the previous installation had returned. With some information 2 years old that had been wiped previously.

This stumped me as I have done this type of formatting hundred's of times before and this has never happened.

There was only 255Mb of space left on the HD. Before I go and do a low level format of the machine, I was wondering if any body has any ideas as to why this has happened?

Did you delete the old partition?

Thanks PC Bilbo, I did delete the old partition. Before I isntalled the software I checked to see how much space there was. I have a low level format disc that I have used for a while now.
