windows 2000 pc shuts down

windows 2000 pc shutsdown whenever you come out off screensaver - we need screensaver activated for security reasons. any ideas on how to stop shutdown? pc has been fine in past and nothing new has been installed/uninstalled.

right click desktop go to properties/power settings or suchlike you might find the solution in there.

firstly is it pasworded if it is deactivate it and see what happens

if their is no change is the pc networked if yes see what the servers are set to do

download latest patches etc (basic house keeping)

go into the power savings and see whats going on

is the pc strugleing to come out of the screensaver if yes it might be low on ram

if by anychance problem number 1 sorts it then renter it that sort it

thats all i can think of that may be causing it!!!

Under the Properties of 'My Computer', on the Advanced tab, 'Startup and Recovery' button. Untick 'Automatically Restart' and you may get an error message when the problem occurs that will help to pinpoint the culprit.
