how do i to make a back up floppy ?

  Taff36 15:06 18 Aug 03

Do you mean a boot disk from which you can restart your system or do you mean copy some data to a disk as a back up?

  techpro 15:13 18 Aug 03

I presume you mean a recovery disc?

Insert a formatted floppy disk in the drive.
Click Start, Settings, select Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove programs, select the Startup Disk tab and click "Create a Startup Disk".

what is a formatted floppy.

When you buy floppies they are sometime sold unformatted. Irrespective insert the floppy into the drive. In MY COMPUTER right click and choose FORMAT. It will take a few minutes and then follow the previous instructions

If you just go to the Add Remove and put a floppy disc in it will format and create the disc all in one go. You must have a Win98 CD disc to put in when it asks for it
