Windows starts to load, splash screen appears then the following message is displayed- An exception OE has occured at 0028:C160F99D in VxD SCSIPORT(01)+0000082D called from 0028:C1834C94 in VxD scsi1hlp(03)+00000774. If I press any key to continue the system locks and I have to turn off the power to restart. If I press C.A.D nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas please. Thanks

It's basically the software or hardware for a SCSI device. Even if you don't have a SCSI card in your system, some scanner drivers, and ZIP drives use SCSI based/named software in their drivers.

This will probably be a driver that's being loaded when the system starts, so look there for those kinds of devices.

The best plan is to disable any such drivers, then when you have identified which is causing the trouble, reload if from the installation CD, or look for an updated version on the web.

PS - I should have added - try to get the system running by starting in safe mode, in order to investigate.

Start computer keep pressing F8 until you see option for start up, choose a selective start-up click yes to each item to load and watch for the item that stops it loading. Next time you start with the above method try without the item click no N to that item see if it starts then
