Win98 - Restore point ??

  Baslla321 18:33 25 Nov 04

Does Win 98 have a restore facility ? If in the affirmative, how do I do it please? Thanks.

No not like XP does, But you can restore the Registry if it's not been switched of in MSCONFIG. To Restore start with a Win98se Startup Floppy disc and at A:\> type SCANREG /RESTORE press enter then select a date to restore

Win 98 doesn't use / have a restore point, Microsoft introduced it with windows ME, you have to manually restore either from disk or cabs, or bite the bullet if your system is totaly kapput do a reinstall

I used Windows Update with a critical update for IE and now every time I am on IE I am told that there is a fatal error and have to close down. I do not have a win 98 disk. Hell !!

Baslla321 sounds like you have a little problem,
if it was a windows hotfix / criticle update and you had a previous edition of IE installed you can roll back to that, or do a complete reinstall of IE and see if that fixes it. if not
do you know anybody with a copy of windows 98? and boot disk?

Can I try a complete reinstall of IE from MS wesite?

It seems now that I am getting this error window even when I am not on IE. Trying Scan Disk.

If you know the name/number/code of the security update you could try uninstalling it in Add/Remove Programs applet. G
