If the OS is not working as it should then it's no good copying it to a new drive you need a win98 Disc to fix it or do a clean install

I have installed an OEM version of WXP onto my older computer works fine both computers are Evesham if it works with XP it should with good old W98 if that is what you mean.

PS you could have a look in the windows folder In Explorer, Check folders for a long list of CAB file and a setup file, in one folder. Have a look in the Install folder

Try this (from memory so it might not work)

Start, run, tye:

C:\Windows\options\cabs\setup.exe

Then click ok.

Backup your docs first.

Thanks for all your help.

Managed to borrow a win98 OS disk, so I might be able to bring back some life to this PC again?

That`s if it works!!...Thanks again hector 911
