I currently run a desktop with win 95 200Mhz PII and a Laptop with Win 98 233Mhz PII. I want to buy a new computer with Win XP Home. How do I keep my data files which include some large 11+ Mbyte files which I do not want to lose.

AIGTIG, the desktop files will be easy to transfer if you are prepared to open the case of your new computer. You just set the old hard drive to slave and fit it as slave to the hard drive in your new computer. You can then copy the files across to the new drive or leave them on the old drive as long as you are not worried about the possibility of it slowing the ide bus if it is very old. You may be able to connect the laptop to the new computer and transfer the files via the serial ports. There is a facility in XP for this, but I don't know how to do it.
