win32.ipwins trojan

  mde 20:16 31 Mar 08

My security suite, ZoneAlarm, has found a trojan win32.ipwins.

No other security site has it in their database, and a googol search only shows zone alarm sites.

The only references to it I can find elsewhere are ones which refer to ipwins.exe and they are on sites McAfee site advisor shows as red.

Wiki doesn't know about it either.

Is this thing real, does it do anything and what program might have dropped it?

Have you installed any toolbars recently ?

Check in add and remove programs !

I am finding results relating to a Matcash toolbar !

It may be from Purityscan

Have you got a note of the file that is flagged up by ZA?

Thanks, skidzy and Mac70,
I haven't installed any toolbars, and I use firefox.

There's nothing in add / remove programs I don't know about.

I haven't installed anything from Purityscan or any internet download.

The name ZoneAlarm came up with was win32.ipwins
