A friend has acquired a PC for free due to the demise of it's owner, but he can't get past the password box. Any Ideas?

Format and reinstall Windows.

Any help getting past a password would be a "crack". You might have a legitamate use for the info but someone else could mis-use it.

kidder-mister. As Jester2K II says. You are probably better to format and install a fresh operating system.

Seeing that the PC has a password to protect the contents, you may feel more comfortable with a fresh start. j.

You'll need to reformat and start again I'm afraid.
