Win2000 delay on startup

I've just installed Win2000 on my new PC, it loads fine, the start bar appears, the system tray programs start then it appears to hang for about a minute before the desktop icons appear. There's no error message and it works fine after this. Any ideas what is causing this? I did briefly have it networked to my old PC to transfer my data over, could this be the problem? Thanks!

The previous networking could be the problem here Wiggy277. Your machine I think would still be holding the information in it's SAM database of the past configuration. While it appears to be doing nothing it is most likely looking for the other machines information.

Look in the event viewer this will show why your system is hanging.
