Win2000 close running programs

  woodchip 18:50 02 Mar 03

This is not for me, it's for a friend is there anything in Win2000 like in Win98 Msconfig that can be used to close programs at startup please be specific. If not what program software would do the job.
Thank's Woodchip

Mike lin's Startup Control Panel, from his site: click here

It does eveything in Win2k that MSCONFIG can do in terms of disabling programs running at startup.

you can also use WinXP's MSCONFIG in Win2k if you want to do more than just disable things from startup.

Tell your friend to look in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.

He can disable quite a few items in there that are background services in Win2k. Some of them are essential, others are optional and still others are downright dangerous in terms of possible security issues.
