In a recent posting a member asked how to install this facility ,the reply (by vog?)was
"start ,run, type cd rom:\i386\winnt32./cmdcons"
I have tried this several times without success, receiving message that windows cannot find. Further guidence please if anyone has successfully installed. Thank you

Assuming that you have an XP disk and Windows not pre-installed and only recovery disks.

you are not typing your cd-rom drive letter

if your cd drive is D then type D:\i386\winnt32./cmdcons

Tank you both, yes my drive is D and this has been entered should I have the xp cd in the the drive ? Sorry if I appear to be a bit thick!

Yes you need the disk in the drive. Hold down Shift when you insert it to stop it autorunning.

VoG's link is pretty clear, and it works whether the CD autoruns or not.

It's either:

d:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons

or:

d:\i386\winnt32 /cmdcons

No full stop after winnt32 in the second one - I don't know whether that was just a typo in your post.

There's a space before the parameter /cmdcons
