Win XP reactivation …

Hi everyone, I have in mind to upgrade my pc to Pentium 4, new mobo etc…and by using the same xp cd, I need to know how am I going to reactivate it, after this has already been activated once ?? ( note that the old mobo is damaged and obviously no longer in use)
Thanks and you’re the best.

If it's an OEM copy you'll have to contact MS on the number given on the Activation Screen and explain the situation. They may give you a new code depending on how many bits you change.

If a Retail copy then you should be OK.

If you have a normal retail version of Win XP you'll have no problem with activation, although you might have to speak to a Microsoft activation desk to get a new code.

Just follow the prompts on-screen when you start the activation procedure.

How can I contact microsoft by e-mail ??

The options to contact them will appear on screen. They are free phone numbers and will not cost you. I don't think you can do it by e-mail..

I upgraded my motherboard recently, and when xp asked me to re-activate I was able to do so via the internet as normal. I have the retail version though not OEM

Retail you can do this as it is your license and not locked to a set of hardware.
