Win XP Pro SP3

My desktop has just suddenly refused to boot up. Was fine a couple of hours ago! It goes through the usual BIOS and POST routines and then goes to the WIN XP loading screen and then the screen goes black and the computer hangs . When starting up in Safe Mode, or any other startup options, a screen full of drivers are shown and again, it just stops at the end of this first screen and does not go any further.
Aconis Disk director 10 will auto boot, but I don't know whether this is helpful. I have tried repairing XP Pro, but the problem still persits. I have tried the help from:

My main drive is partitioned C and D, I would like to preserve the data on both partitions. I have a laptop, and was wondering if I could use a rescue program which has been put on a flash drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your boot up system has corrupted, Boot up from your XP Pro CD disk and do a repair from that.
There are many sites which advise on the method.
