win xp keeps detecting new hardware

I have downloaded drivers for an Epsom 760 printer but each time I boot up win xp states that new hardware has been detected and installs another driver for the printer which does not work so well. I have tried deleting it but it reinstalls it on next boot up. How can I stop Win xp from doing this?

the problem may be an out dated driver, i found that many updates work half as well as the origional drivers, the next time it installs its own driver use the roll back driver option in the device manager, double click on your installed printer and look for profile, click this tab and you should have a few options to choose from, my guess is that if you use xp to do this it will stop trying to assign a new driver.
