Win XP Home to Pro

  jim1947 19:33 19 Dec 03

I am thinking of upgrading XP Home to Pro.

(A) Is it worth it, what are the advantages.

(B) Will I have to re-install all the service packs and updates if I do an upgrade rather than a new insallation.

All advice gratefully acknowledged.

Save your money, the difference between XP Pro and Home aren't worth the extra outlay.

You haven't said why you are considering upgrading.

Unless Pro has something you definitely need which is not on HE then I totally agree with Chegs

There is more to XP Pro than XP Home so you ask yourself what do you want to do will it be an advantage to upgrade or are you doing it for upgrade sake, like myself went from W98 to XP after a poor start with it it now works fine but
i am using no more software than i did with W98
so i think that speaks for itself.
If your just upgading your updates should be ok.

No particular reason. I was wondering what are the differences, as MS took the trouble to issue two editions, I thought I might try the Pro version. I guess what I am asking is what has Pro got that HE hasn't.

Pro is aimed at the business market with improved networking capabilities.
